Being convicted of drunk driving-related charges can end up having a serious impact on anyone's life. It can result in a driver's license getting suspended, expensive fines -- and in some cases -- even jail time. Additionally, those in certain occupations also run the risk of a DUI affecting their professional career.

For example, 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was recently arrested on suspicion of DUI. From this, not only does he face possible legal repercussions, there is also the possibility that he will be fined, or even suspended from playing, if the NFL determines that he violated the league's personal conduct policy.

For now, there is little information available regarding the linebacker's arrest, except that he was booked into jail on Saturday around 9:30 a.m.

Of course, Smith's arrest made headlines around the country, for the simple fact that he is a well-know football player. However, just like how he could face repercussions from the league, it is important for anyone who was recently arrested to think about how a conviction could possibly affect their life.

For example, if your driver's license is suspended, how would you get to work? What about if you have family obligations that require driving? How would these get done?

Questions like this are ones that need answers. Because of this, if you are ever facing DUI charges, or have already even had your license suspended, it's best to speak with an attorney, who works frequently on cases involving license suspension to see what options are available to restore your driving privileges as soon as possible.
