Being arrested and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence is something that could happen to anyone. School teachers, police officers and even those in elected positions can -- and have -- been some of the many people to be charged for allegedly driving drunk.
Recently, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a firefighter was arrested and accused of being under the influence. However, the 44-year-old claims to have only had two glasses of wine. But, the arresting officer is insistent that it must have been more.
The firefighter was driving a red Mustang at the time. After being pulled over, he did submit to field sobriety tests and a blood test. The officer claims the 44-year-old failed the field sobriety tests, although a recent article fails to mention how exactly he supposedly failed.
According to the complaint, the arrest happened last week. Before being pulled over, an officer is attempting to claim that the Mustang was seen swerving and crossing over the yellow line.
Looking to the future, there is always the chance that the firefighter will attempt to fight this DUI charge.
In general, many times people are arrested and charged with drunk driving, and think that it is easier to just plead guilty. However, the truth is that you have rights, and are innocent until proven guilty. This means that you have every right to question the events leading up to your arrest. For example, why were you pulled over? Was there really enough evidence at the traffic stop to warrant an arrest?
These are just some of the many aspects that can be questioned in court in order to defend DUI charges.
